This sit/stand desk converter is pretty much exactly what I was looking for in an inexpensive (at least when I got it on a Black Friday sale :-) solution. It is stable whether at minimum or maximum height.

I haven't had issues with it sliding or tilting even though the lifting mechanism gets more and more asymmetrical in the bracing underneath the top as it moves upward.

The lifting/lowering is basically effortless with a keyboard, mouse, laptop, and wooden/bamboo organizer underneath the laptop that together probably weigh less than 10 lbs.

The bare surface of the desktop is textured and suitable for using an optical mouse without the need for a mouse pad to get precise movement detection. I've had issues with other desktop surfaces being spotty/jumpy in optical mouse use, requiring a mouse pad for reliability.

I haven't clamped anything to the desktop, e.g. a monitor arm. There is about 1.75" of overhang until you hit the metal framing of the base and at least 2.5 to 4.5" of overhang (depending on where you want to clamp something) until you hit some of the metal framing/lifting-mechanism underneath the desktop. But with an < 18 lbs weight limit and a relatively thin top, I don't know that I'd want to be clamping anything to it.
